When you step through the main entrance into "DisneySea Plaza," the very first thing that catches your eye is that giant, beautiful blue globe—the Aquasphere! 🌎✨

A blend of "Aqua" (water) and "Sphere" (globe), this incredible landmark is packed with hidden details and magical secrets that make the park even more enchanting! ✨💫

Here are some fun facts about the Aquasphere that will make your next visit extra special! 🎉👇

1. Why a Globe Instead of Cinderella Castle? 🏰➡️🌎

We all know Cinderella Castle is the ultimate symbol of Tokyo Disneyland, but why did DisneySea go with a globe? 🤔💭

During the early planning stages, designers actually considered using Mount Prometheus 🌋 or a massive lighthouse 🏮 as the park's main icon!

However, they ultimately chose the planet Earth itself—the "Water Planet" 🌊🌍. The Aquasphere was created to represent a grand theme: welcoming guests to explore all the world's seven seas and adventure! 🏴‍☠️✨

Fun fact: Tokyo DisneySea was the very first Disney park in history to feature something other than a castle as its main symbol! 😮🎉

2. How Big and Heavy Is It? 📏⚖️

It looks huge from a distance, but the actual specs will blow your mind! 🤯💥

  • Diameter (Globe size): Approx. 8 meters (about 26 feet—as tall as a 3-story building!) 🏢

  • Total Height (with base): Approx. 10 meters (33 feet)! 📐

  • Weight: A whopping 25 tons!! 😱🐘

To put that into perspective, an African elephant weighs about 5 to 6 tons, so the Aquasphere weighs as much as 4 or 5 full-grown elephants! 🐘🐘🐘🐘

3. How Does It Float and Rotate So Smoothly? (Material & Tech) ⚙️🌀

How on earth does a 25-ton metal globe spin so effortlessly? 🔮✨

  • Material: It's crafted mainly from bronze, beautifully painted and finely detailed! 🎨✨

  • How It Spins: The magic lies in the buoyancy of water! 🌊💧 Water pressure underneath actually floats the globe! By controlling the water current with precision, this huge metal sphere rotates smoothly, looking like it's floating freely in outer space! 🌌✨

Spinning a 25-ton object on a traditional axis would create huge friction, but using water reduces friction to almost zero. It’s an incredible piece of engineering! 🛠️💡

Yes! Late at night after the park closes, the maintenance crew (Cast Members) cleans it every single day! 🌙🧹

To prevent water spots and mineral buildup, they use specialized brushes and high-pressure washers to scrub it spotless. That’s how that vibrant blue color and magical sparkle are kept alive! Talk about Disney’s incredible attention to detail! 💕👏

5. Is There a "Hidden Mickey"? 🐭🔍✨

Of course! No Disney icon is complete without a Hidden Mickey! 🥳👀

  • How to Find It: Look very closely at the continents and islands on the globe! 🗺️ Among the tiny islands scattered in the Pacific or Atlantic Oceans, you can spot a group of islands shaped like the iconic Mickey silhouette (three overlapping circles)! 🏝️🐭

Since the globe is constantly rotating during the day, it can be a fun challenge to spot, so keep your eyes peeled as it spins by! ⏳✨

【Maihama】Shopping Magic Without a Park Ticket! Vol.1: Disney Store🐭🏰 Ikspiari 🛍️✨

 "I couldn't get a park ticket," "It's my last day and I just want to shop before heading to the airport," or "I want to make the most of my arrival day!" — If this sounds like you, I have the perfect spot! 🐭🏰 Located right in front of the JR Maihama Station gates, this is one of the largest Disney Stores in Japan!  ✨ 📍 Basic Info & Access It's located at the "Entry Plaza" on the 2nd floor of Ikspiari. A prime location just a 1-minute walk from the station! 🏃‍♂️💨 Hours : 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM 🕙 Location : Ikspiari 2F (Right by the entrance near Maihama Station) Payments : Credit cards, IC cards (Suica/PASMO), and major QR payments are accepted. 💳📱 🌟 What Makes This Store Amazing?
